Thank you for the semester.

Ph135 exam results

Dear Logic students,

I apologize that our time was cut short by the need to make way for the next class to use the classroom. I will make considerations based on the highest score that anyone got for the exam.

I only began checking your papers yesterday (Thursday Dec.8) since I had orals with my other students until Wednesday. I'll probably finish on the deadline for submission of final grades. Given that this is the case, I won't be able to release the corrected papers before the release of final grades.

But of course everyone is entitled to see their corrected papers. You may see me personally at the department to see your corrected papers. I will be at the department every weekday morning (7-10am) until Dec.20 and starting Jan.9. To protect the privacy of your paper, I will not release them in an outbox for claiming.

Thank you for sitting through the course.

Getting ready for our class party

Hi guys!

Are you ready for our class party?

Just to put it on black and white, here is our little wager.

If 55% of all my current students will be present at any point during the party, the quiz bonus (default is n-1) will go up to n-2.

If 65% of all my current students will be present at any point during the party, the quiz bonus will go up to n-3. And just to keep it interesting, if this happens, I will give up my long hair and have a haircut over the all-saints-day-holidays.

Since I have 176 students this sem, 55% is 97 people and 65% is 115. Last time I told you I have 177 students but I forgot that I have a student now who is enrolled in two of my classes (I still don't understand why someone will be willing to suffer under me for each day of the week!) and so now I am counting that student only once. So the official number is 176.

See you all on Friday, October 28 at Jeepney Bistro. Party starts at 7pm.

Anyone interested to have a class party on October 21 or 28?

Just an idea to remove a bit of the stress we are taking these days.

Some of you have heard that I used to have class parties. It's been a long time since the last one and maybe it's a good time to have one this year.

Would you guys like to have a class party for all of my students on October 21 or 28? It will be a night of music and dancing. I noticed from your class cards that there are a lot of musicians and dancers among you. Let's have performances then from among ourselves!

If your answer is yes, then volunteer to help organize our humble event. We need at least 2 people per class so that we could plan the venue, food, sound system (amps and drum kits if ever) and all the other stuff we need to have fun together.

Please post your reactions on the comment section below so that we will all know if anyone is picking the idea up.

Thanks.

Another film you may want to see

For those of you still hungry for more films to philosophically reflect on, here is one more you can watch this coming Easter:

GROUNDHOG DAY
Wednesday March 30
16h00-17h40
Rizal Library MultiMedia Room

This screening is open to all my ph 102 students this semester. Anyone interested may tag along. We probably won't be able to fill the venue and so if any of your friends want to sit in as well, they are welcome to do so.

So we have four films offered in all. As usual, you are free to write your paper on any of the four films.
