Please note my announcement during our last class.
Our Midterm oral exams will take place January 19-24. This is one week later than originally scheduled. This is to help us catch up with our lessons and cover the materials we should cover before the midterms.
Consequently, all related class activities will move as well. For example, I will expect your schedule forms on Friday, January 9 and we will start sign-ups on Monday, January 12.
Please be guided accordingly.

Changes to our calendar
Dear Ph 103 B & C,
As you all know, the TTh classes will be delayed due to the many holidays this week and next month. To give them time to catch up, I have decided to delay the midterm exams to the last week of August.
Here is the adjusted schedule:
Start of sign ups: Monday August 18
Midterm Oral Exams: August 25-30
Film Showing: Mon25, Wed27, Fri29 (class time)
Please do not forget to print the last page of our syllabus for the form you will fill up with your academic schedule (classes, long tests, etc.) during midterms week. Just correct the dates on the form. The form must be in by 4pm of Friday, August 15. Put it in my mailbox or submit it in class.
If you don't submit the form, it means you will be happy with any exam slot left after every one has signed up.
Since we are not affected by the holidays, we will most probably finish the material covered by the midterms (last article is Lauer's) way before we have the exams. We shall begin discussing the next set of mateerials originally scheduled after the midterms (i.e.St. Anselm and St. Thomas).
Please be guided accordingly.
Lastly, please alert everyone concerned about this post.
Thank you for your attention.
PJ Strebel

Grades for the Final Oral Examinations
Hey Guys!
The grades for the final oral examinations are now posted on the Department of Philosophy bulletin boards near the book sale at the lobby and along the second floor corridor of Dela Costa Hall.
Thank you for the cards (Heart warming!), the photo sessions (Thank the ones next in line for exams!), selfies (Ah! Technology!), the warm farewells (I'll miss you, too!), the hug (Someone hugged a daddy!) and the chocolate cake (which my kids devoured in 3 days!).
It was a fast, tiring, yet awesome semester and year. It was a great pleasure to see you all grow up so much in so little time. Thank you for sticking around!
Existentially yours,
PJ Strebel

Your own take on the Philosophy of the Human Person
Perhaps you remember how at the beginning of Ph101 you learned that as a thinking adult, you may already have a rough, unconscious formulation of the philosophy of the human person. Now at the end of Ph102, it is time to consciously refine and express your formulation.
Thus, when you see our thesis sheet for the upcoming final exam you will find that the last thesis, thesis number ten will be left blank. You shall fill in that blank for yourself.
On A4 paper, place your name on the upper left-hand side. Use Times New Roman 14 or 16.
Give your thesis statement starting two spaces below your name. The statement is 3-5 sentences long and should contain the following three elements:
1. A phenomenological description of who the human person is.
2. A prescription of what the human person must do.
3. An existential declaration of what he must become / achieve / hope for.
Copy paste everything to the latter half of the paper so that two copies of the same text appear above and below the fold if the paper is folded crosswise in half. During your exam, one copy is for you and the other copy is for me.
Deadline for submitting your thesis statement is Friday, 11 April. This will be credited as a quiz.
Your graded thesis statements will be available the day before your final exam. Approach me at the exam venue (don't look for me at the department) while in-between examinees to get your copy.
Welcome to the final stretch, the final push. Let's give it our best shot, people!
